Morning mini- 12x6” oil on panel

In an attempt to bridge sketching and painting, I attacked this found still life in the studio from an odd, distorting angle, and did a quick contour drawing right on the panel as a start. I kept whatever I put down, not fretting over accuracy, letting it all happen organically. I thought it would be fun to try and paint this darker image without the use of black, and a limited palette of cad yellow, cad red, burnt sienna, ultramarine blue and a dab of pthalo green - I like how it turned out, and it will appear soon in my store, once dry! The piece took about an hour and a half ... I’m trying not to go back in and fiddle for perfection. It is a sketch after all! Jc
