Clouds over the sound

The days are getting longer, the air a little warmer, and soon, the times of hanging down by the water until dark will be back. The sea breeze that sets up afternoon storms inland will fire up, and we will again have the late day clouds teasing rain. Usually, they play out before reaching back to the coast, but we still get to enjoy their stacked formations and lightning show from afar. Here are two pieces done over the winter that reflect the late day views of summer storms. I hope to do more of these impressionistic takes over the coming months, concentrating on the dome of the sky and its active and ever changing patterns. The plan is to continue painting nature and natural elements as my focus for larger works. More waves, trees, dune, marsh and sky. We have so much here to explore, and I’ve barely scratched the surface of my interests. Have a great rest of the week!
