Searching for Me. Warning: Artistspeak below:)

Being an artist is an incredibly rewarding existence. It is a dream I've had since my youngest days, and I'm actually making a go of it. It's an incredible feeling to want to get to work every day. And not only that, but it's hard for me to take days off. I am captain one track. I paint, I think about painting when I'm not painting. I've painted full time for 13 years, and have painted in a loose realist / impressionist style most of that time... with a few fun, psychedelic p

    Finally Back At It!

So after basically moving all month, and getting things in the new studio and for the most part put away, I finally could turn back to doing a little painting this week! I got my easels set up in the front half of my space in order to take advantage of the beautiful north light that comes in the windows. It is a cool light, and something I'll have to get used to, after literally an entire career of painting indoors with warm spotlights. I've never had a space so naturally lig

    More minis coming up!

Hi everyone! I hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas, and now it's time to look towards the new year! Here's hoping, that with your support, 2018 will be the best year ever! Thanks, as always, to all of you who have shown interest in my art through the years, and I pledge to you all I will continue to strive to be the best I can be. That starts with the continual production of work, as well as the continual expansion of my skill set through research and practice. This is

    Minis in the pipe

Hi all! Told ya I was going to try and be better about posting more, and even though it's a New Years resolution, I'm being proactive and starting a little early. As I've said before, I paint every day, and if I don't I become testy! It's like a sickness, and it is necessary if you paint full time for a living. So, I had a couple pieces I had already finished, but felt they needed a little more life. With these small ones, I usually don't go back in, but I felt just a little

    Mini Paintings for sale soon!

I am in the process of working on my site, after being inactive on it for a while. The goal is to have affordable work for sale through the store, and the ability to mail it out anywhere. I’ve been doing smaller paintings for the last several months, which are 6x8” oils on birch panels. They are light, sturdy, and best of all, affordable! I cut the panels myself, prime them with acrylic gesso, and frame them once completed. The purchase price is around $160-200. This includes

    Finally!

After almost a year since I started this blog, wix finally allows me to do it through my iPad! I am sooo excited! Let’s do this! First things first, I have a show just wrapping up at Adam Cave Fine Art in Raleigh, NC. Go see it if you are around the area and want to see what I’ve got there- The annual Winter Show kicks off tonight at the Green Hill Center in Greensboro, with artists work from all over the state. I have 6 pieces there, so please, all of you up in the western p

    Hello there!

I was hoping to keep this blog a little more regular than I have. The problem, as I see it, is that it's too much work to write in my journal, draw and paint, and then come on my computer and write about what I'm doing as well as download pics and put them up here... I'm lazy in this regard. I was hoping I would be able to blog and update my site on my iPad, but the platform isn't supported. Therefore, we get blog posts every 2 months! If I could just get in the habit of doin

    Sometimes you gotta have fun

So, I realize I am extremely fortunate to do what I love as a career. I get to create art for a living! I paint almost every day of the week. But, like any other job that one does full time, I get burned out and need a recharge. What do I do for fun? Create more art! I draw, sketch, play at creating card games, and color with my 2 boys. Last week, we took some note cards and I showed them how I used to make flip books on note pads when I was a kid. These are drawings done on
