An oil on canvas, presented in a 1" maple frame, varnished and ready to hang! Have you ever seen someting that stops you in your tracks? That's what this somewhat alien piece of equipment did as I was driving down a rural road one morning. I swerved around, and had to investigate it further! It's a loader for loggers, to place the trunks of whatever they are clearing onto the trucks for transport to the mill. The large pincers are out of view, and would be a great subject in themselves, but I was fascinated by the composition formed by the long arm as it meets it's fulcrum, where it's driver sits to make it all happen. The rusty reds and greens of the growing weeds around it were too much for me to pass up!
