A sketch done on site, en plein air, on 7x10" multi media paper, using pencil and watercolor. when sketching, I try not to think too much and just let things happen. I will usually start with some type of quick line work, and then dive right in with loose watercolor washes. The beauty of watercolor to me is the chance happenings and random things that occur when just letting the medium do what it wants. And I try to mostly resist the temptation to go over it more than 2 or 3 passes. Overwork and fussiness is always a killer for watercolor.
