24x48” oil on linen, presented in a warm silver floater frame. A favorite place to walk and paint is the fort Macon trail in Atlantic Beach, NC. It’s a looping trail with views on both the sound and ocean sides of the dunes at the Fort Macon State Park. I spend at least a couple days a week there- this is a view on the trail, and this time of year the Little Blue Stem’s fluffy tops catch the afternoon light and can look like candles burning on the dunes. This impressionistic piece attempts to capture that effect, as well as the afternoon sun as it slides behind a layer of clouds.
